Civic & Conference Center for the City of Killeen

M T Crump Architects was selected by the City of Killeen to design a Civic & Conference Center of approximately 64,000 square feet on a rolling 15.5 acres city owned site.

The building provides spaces for community functions, meeting spaces, banquet and ballrooms. The dominant architectural features of limestone and gray standing seam metal roof are emphasized by a grand gabled entry leading to the main lobby focusing on the city logo carved into a solid block of limestone which is also carved in the shape of the state of Texas.  A circulation spine across the front of the building leads the visitor into the building from the parking areas on each side of the building. Multifunction areas range from small meeting / conference rooms to a multidivisional grand exhibit ballroom of 23,000 square feet, to a special function room with glass exposure and access to a landscaped garden for weddings, receptions and other unique events which enjoy combined indoor and outdoor activities. Service areas include large storage space for furniture and equipment and a full preparation kitchen to serve banquet and gala functions. Local businesses donated funds for a large granite conference table for the special Board Room. Cutright & Allen Architects were associated architects.
